TEENAGE starlet Elena Baltacha, the last British player in the Wimbledon women's singles, pulled off another great win today.

The 18-year-old daughter of former Ipswich Town footballer Sergei Baltacha put out the 32nd seed, South African Amanda Coetzer, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.

Baltacha will now go on to meet unseeded Russian Elena Likhovtseva in the third round.

Likhovtseva pulled off today's biggest upset when she put out the Belgian fifth seed Kim Clijsters – a semi-finalist last year – 7-6, 6-2.

Baltacha, ranked 260 places below Coetzer in the world list, fought back superbly after appearing to be on the way to defeat at a set and 2-0 down.

She came back strongly in the second set, then dominated the decider to win in style on her first match point.

Baltacha, who was born in Ukraine, moved to Ipswich as a five-year-old when her father signed for Town.

The family later moved to Perth in Scotland, where Elena first took up tennis. Her brother, Sergei junior, is a defender with St Mirren.
