THE top two nations in cycle speedway took to the track at Whitton Sports Centre at the weekend and the large crowd were dealt a fantastic display of the sport.

But it was not a great evening for the Suffolk riders taking part.

Ipswich rider Daniel Pike fell in heat one (the first of three falls for him), while other local lads Adam Peck and Lewis Osborne had three exclusions between them.

But England held on for a memorable victory, running out 90-80 victors.
