Stonham Aspal 1 Achilles 8

With the result of this match having no bearing on either team's league placing, the game was a light hearted encounter littered with mistakes, a good second half performance from Achilles boosting their season's goal tally.

Having survived early home pressure Achilles went ahead in the 12th minute when Capocci stroked home a cross from Donovan. Achilles should have increased their lead when keeper Lay punched out a shot from Donovan with Reeder volleying wide from close range when faced with an empty goal.

Stonham pressure paid off in the 34th minute when Bennett netted a cross from Morling following a goalmouth scramble only for Stonham to concede a second when a low clearance from keeper Lay rebounded off the legs of Donovan into the net.

Stonham must have felt that it was not going to be their day when Peachment volleyed a spot kick wide in injury time after Morling had been fouled by a defender.

Achilles dominated play after the break with Donovan netting a third in the 54th minute completing his hat-trick four minutes later converting a spot kick having been brought down by a defender.

As the home defence wilted against a rampant Achilles attack and despite a number of good saves by goalkeeper Lay the visitors increased their lead with goals from Donovan, Capocci and Bell. Stonham's tale of woe continued in the 85th minute when Achilles netted an eighth, a defender slicing the cross from Grimwood over the head of his keeper into the net.
