Swann had a great chance to put the home side ahead when he chased a long ball into the box but Haygreen kept his ground and saved with his feet.

Layton then sent a fierce swerving shot from 28 yards that the keeper tipped over the bar. At the other end Irving released Devereux who shot on the run bringing a good save from Holden. Melford kept up the pressure and Devereux sent an inswinging cross from the right that Howe headed forcing Holden to save at his near post.

Whitton took the lead in the 43rd minute break saw Hurd clear and sent in a superb shot high into the net.

Melford made a determined second half Judd hit the bar and Holden produced an excellent save from Devereux's powered shot. Following a cross from the right Layton fired in a tremendous shot that Haygreen superbly saved, whilst at the other end Hill drove a free kick to the far post Devereux's header was tipped over.

It was an exciting finale and Melford's efforts were rewarded when Pratt headed home from two corners in the 82nd and 84th minute but Whitton equalised in the 89th minute when substitute Tourney Godfrey scored from close range.
