IPSWICH Town Women Reserves gained their first league win of the season in style at the expense of Brighton at Bent Lane.

Town's first team did not have a game which allowed Development Coach Greg Cooper to field Helen Bass, Hannah Cook and Nyssa Willis, experienced seniors who had been without regular matches recently due to injury and illness.

The home side began

positively and were rewarded within five minutes when Sarah Clark was instrumental in setting up Willis to fire low past Brighton keeper Charlotte Sole.

Sole was again picking the ball out of the net after 25 minutes following a fine solo run and

finish from the halfway line from Bass.

Ipswich failed to add to their two goals in the first half and keeper Nic Scott to thanks for saving them on several occasions.

The killer third goal came after 60 minutes from captain Kate Sandlan, who wriggled her way past defenders in the penalty box to fire home from an acute angle.

Clark then made it four on 65 minutes from 30 yards and Laura Green added a soft fifth, following another mistake from Sole.

Ipswich did not have it all their own way, however, and were fortunate that the keepers had not been at opposite ends, as Scott made outstanding saves to keep the away side at bay.

However even she could do nothing to prevent Helen Whitton from giving Brighton a deserved goal from the penalty spot after Emma Gregory had upended the striker.

Ipswich team: Scott, Cook, Willis, Sandlan (c), Gregory, Gordon (Rochelle Small, 60), Farrow (Rox Small, 75), Brown (Brewis, 45), Green, Bass, Clark. Unused sub; Middle.
