FORMER Ipswich speedway ace Tomasz Gollob was recovering in hospital today after a miracle escape when the plane he was travelling in crash-landed in Poland.
It was being flown by his father Wladyslaw, who suffered a broken collar bone.
Gollob, who is 36, escaped with cuts and bruises after pulling his father from the wreckage.
The Pole had flown by regular plane to Warsaw from Copenhagen and was then in a light aircraft with his father, his mechanic and fellow rider Rune Holta when it crashed with the two riders on their way to ride for Unia Tarnow against ZKZ Zielona Gora. Both riders and Gollob senior were kept in hospital for observation.
Gollob, who finished fourth in the Danish GP on Saturday night, was a key member of the Witches side that won the Elite League, the Knockout Cup and the Craven Shield in the 1998 season.
