Haughley kept up the pressure on the league leaders with some lethal finishing, but had to survive a Ransomes recovery in the final 20 minutes.

The strong cross-wind wrecked any possibility of a spectacle, although Haughley grew stronger in the latter stages of the first-half, scoring through Noller seven minutes before the break, after Kidd had drawn the covering defence.

Young keeper Barnett was constantly in the action and had no time to dwell on his excellent flying save before Grover had thumped a corker and Powell's angled shot edged in off the post.
