Dereham 1 Ipswich Wanderers 0

A GOAL from Matthew Henman was enough to send Wanderers crashing to defeat in the Jewson Cup semi-final at Aldiss Park.

A tense first half saw few chances created, with Henman and Handel both going close for the home side and Hetherington and Smy having the best chances for Wanderers.

Dereham enjoyed the better of the second half and Handel missed a great chance on 46 minutes when he beat Evans to the ball but headed over the bar.

Evans then denied Gorham before a diving header from Christie flew just wide of the Wanderers goal.

Dereham were now dominating the game and Henman shot wide of the target on two occasions.

It was not until 12 minutes from time that Dereham booked their place in the final when a deep cross from Gorham was headed home by the unmarked Henman.

After this Dereham dominated the remainder of the game and McGuire and Henman went close to adding a second.

In the final they will meet Norwich United or Clacton, who were still deadlocked at 1-1 after extra time in last night's other semi-final.
