SKIPPER Matt Holland has scooped Ipswich Town supporters' player of the year award.

Republic of Ireland midfielder Holland – who has spent a chunk of the season operating at centre back – captured 40 per cent of the vote.

The 29-year-old will receive his award in a presentation on the pitch at 2.35pm before tomorrow's Portman Road clash with Wimbledon.

Holland will be unable to make the presentation evening at the Galleria on Sunday evening as he will be joining up with the Republic squad for their friendly against Norway.

Town Supporters' Club chairman Ian Pennock said: "Matt has been fantastic for us again this season. He has played in virtually every position and is a very popular choice."

Thomas Gaardsoe was runner-up. Matt Richards, James Pullen and Darren Ambrose, will each receive a newly-presented debut-makers trophy.

Meanwhile, Pablo Counago has been voted the Town Players' Player of the Year. The Spaniard beat joint runners-up Jim Magilton and Matt Holland by one vote.

The Dale Roberts Young Player of the Year will be chosen by academy coaches and it is hoped Dale's widow Cheryl will present the award on Sunday evening.
