Brantham, desperate for league points, made a good start in this match taking the lead in the second minute when a through ball from Rudge picked out Frost in the area, who turned a defender and left the keeper with no chance at all.

Brantham survived two penalty shouts in as many minutes, but the referee who was well placed on both occasions waved Leiston's protests away.

A minute later Brantham should have increased their lead when a shot Osbourn looked a certain goal but a defender got back to clear the ball off the line.

It was all Brantham at this stage and a long range effort by McDougal caught the Leiston keeper off his line, but somehow he back pedalled and tipped the ball over for a corner. Burrows for Brantham and Hall for Leiston both had good chances set up for them but these were both wasted.

Leiston started the second half in a positive manner with both Hall and Harper going close.

They were on level terms after 55 minutes when sloppy marking by the Brantham defence allowed Pilkington to push the ball across the area for Hall to score from close range.

Brantham hit back almost straight away and regained their lead on the hour when a high ball was lofted into the area and Gorham headed the ball over the fingertips of the Leiston goalkeeper.

Brantham had two very good chances after this with both McDougal and Rudge going close. Leiston felt that they should have had another penalty towards the latter part of the match but the referee was again well placed and waved their protests away.

The game finished with Brantham well on top and well worth their win.
