Colchester United boss, John McGreal, was “proud” of his side following today’s goalless draw against Plymouth.
The U’s are now three points adrift of the play-offs, going into their last two games.
They were certainly the better team for long periods, but had to make do with a point against the already promoted Pilgrims.
Chris Porter squandered the best chance of the match, with a first-half header drifting wide of target, and the U’s centre forward also went close with a shot-on-the-turn late on, and also a header that looped over from an 89th minute free-kick.
“That was a game we could have won, but it’s still a great point for us,” insisted McGreal.
“We are still in it, in terms of the play-offs, and I’m proud of my bunch of players.
“It just wasn’t our day, in front of goal.
“We are just one win away from the play-offs, with two great games still to come (at Leyton Orient next weekend, and at home to Yeovil on the final day).
“I’m very proud of that performance.
“Plymouth came here for the win, in their quest for the title, and it was a great game for the fans,” added McGreal.
