Joe Dunne was a frustrated man after watching his side dominate at Notts County tonight, only to suffer a 2-1 defeat.

The U’s were beaten by a fifth minute opener from Ronan Murray, and a 72nd minute wonder strike by Liam Noble, which arrived just two minutes after Freddie Sears had equalised.

Notts County ended the match with just nine men, with Cieron Keane and Nicky Wroe both seeing red for two bookable offences late on, but the U’s could find no other way past inspired keeper Roy Carroll.

Dunne said: “It’s been the story of the last few games, and the story of the last few years that I’ve been in charge, not taking our chances.

“But I won’t change.

I thought we dominated the game, dominated possession, and this was the best passing performance I’ve seen in my time as a manager.

“We got the ball and we kept the ball, and I don’t think Notts County knew what to do around us,” added Dunne.
