Medite Ipswich moved back into second place in the National Indoor Cricket League following an amazing fight-back in their latest match at Derby

James Barker and Sean Ongers opened the batting for the visitors and scored a solid 23 runs. Chris Norton and Gavin Driver were unable to keep the momentum going adding just one to the total.

Mark Smith and Russell Ongers then added 24 runs before Michael Edmond and Mike Pitman moved the Medite Ipswich score on to 78 at the close.

On a slow, unforgiving wicket, this should have been a target that Derby would have felt confident in getting.

Medite Ipswich are arguably the best fielding and bowling side in the country and they showed their class as the visitors proceeded to rip apart the Derby batting with the opening pair scoring just 16. Eight wickets were then taken in the second pair's stand of –8 and from then on it was an uphill struggle for the hosts.

By the time the final partnership arrived 56 were needed to win the match. More solid bowling and top class fielding kept this pair to just 15 and Medite Ipswich completed an impressive whitewash for points. Pick of the bowlers were Edmond (-8) R Ongers (-8) and Smith (-1)

Afterwards, skipper Gavin Driver said: "It was an exceptional fielding performance, but we have to maintain that quality for the rest of the season now."

The B team game was even more of a one-sided affair as Medite Ipswich notched up a fine 88-run

victory.

Derby batted first and the opening pair got off to a solid start, scoring 35. From then on it was all Medite Ipswich as the next three partnerships combined failed to add any further runs to the score.

Pick of the bowlers were S Ongers (-11) Richardson (-6) and Bell (1)

Ongers and Neil Schofield opened the batting for the visitors and despite a small glitch in the third over scored 23 runs.

Ian Connell and John Bartrum needed just one over to pass the Derby score on their way to a partnership of 26. Derek Bloomfield and Richardson also added 26 before Bell and Chris Chittock completed the rout by scoring an impressive 48 runs.

The Masters were also in action against a Derby side including Gloucestershire's Kim Barnett and two indoor internationals.

The Ipswich Warlocks got off to a flying start, taking three wickets in the opening over but were unable to sustain this level and the opening pair recovered to 31.

Further partnerships of 45, 39 and 45 for Derby put the hosts in a good position to avenge the defeat by the Warlocks earlier on in the season.

Pick of the Ipswich Warlocks bowlers were Simon Fielding (2) and skipper, Mark Storey (11).

Mark Henson and Nigel Parmenter opened the batting and got the visitors off to a solid start scoring 33 runs.

Steve Bulger and Adrian Taylor struggled in the face of some good tight bowling and the Warlocks were on 31 at the half way stage. Storey and Mellish batted well to add 25 to the visitors score, but Ipswich were 105 runs behind with just one pair left.

Dave Miller and Fielding batted well but were only able to add 18 to the score.
