Ipswich Basketball Club have lost in the EBL Division Two play-off final against Derby Trailblazers, at the Amaechi Centre, in Manchester.

Nick Drane’s men lost 73-57 in front of a raucous crowd in the north west, Derby’s Alex Dorr winning the Most Valuable Player award.

The first two quarters were extremely tight and the teams were level at the end of the second quarter, 33-33.

However, Derby shot into an early 10-point lead in the third quarter and never gave up their grip on the game after that, although Ipswich will rue a number of missed free-throw opportunities.

Coach Drane said: “The better team won and I have no complaints.

“My players couldn’t have given anymore. We were pretty good defensively but it didn’t quite come together offensively.

“But this is a special group of players who I want to keep together with one or two additions and I am proud to be their coach.”
