Despite a 10-point loss to table topping Solent Kestrels, Ipswich again entertained the Suffolk crowd with one of best games of the season.

With Solent leading by 19 at half time and 16 heading into the fourth quarter, Ipswich went on a rampage that saw them tie things up with a minute and a half to play at Copleston.

Captain Tom Sadler, young guard Sam Newman and Portuguese star Eddie Ferreira led the charge as Solent didn’t know what hit them.

However, like a true championship team, Solent suddenly found an extra gear, somehow scoring ten points in the final minute and a half, eventually winning 83-73.

“I think we used up every ounce of energy bringing that deficit back and then we ran out of steam” said Ipswich head coach Nick Drane.

“We were brilliant at times and flat out terrible at others – stupid mistakes cost us what would have been a great win.

“That includes me – I made the most costly mistake of anyone today,” said Drane, speaking of his second technical foul and resulting ejection with 17 seconds to play.

“I was pretty irate by the end, between the players, myself and the referees there were enough mistakes to tip anyone over the edge”.

Ipswich travel to Nottingham on Saturday for their final regular season game before they have their Easter Break and return to action in the playoffs.

Top scorers were Sadler with 25 points and Newman with 15.
