Coach Hayley Rigby’s U14 Girls side were the curtain-raiser for the senior men, and had a growing crowd as their game against Norfolk Iceni wore on.

Despite being plagued by a slow start, they ran-out to an 86-43 win which ensured they’re still chasing a top playoff seed, and for the first time this season, the team were far stronger offensively than defensively, as Alicia Boddy (30), Susannah Rafiu (22) and Annika Brown (11) led the way.

Coach Arron MacDonald’s U16 Boys travelled to London Greenhouse Pioneers, looking to end their recent capital woes.

The Blues started quickly, disrupting Pioneers and taking a 16-24 lead after one – but that was as good as it got for the Blues as, missing Ethan Price, they were bullied inside, failed to move the ball and were simply outworked by their counterparts, en route to a 95-62 loss which drops the team to 10-10.

Veron (21), Lewis Tebbit (17) and Tom Payne (9) led the scoring.

Table-topping Surrey Goldhawks travelled to face Coach Amy Linton’s U16 Girls, where they had some early joy thanks to their pressing defence, as they edged their lead out to seven points at the half.

Ipswich came out in the third and played their best quarter of basketball of the season, switching between defences and holding Surrey to just six points, edging ahead by three in the process.

Although the final quarter was tense, Ipswich maintained control – creating great scoring opportunities, and pulling away to a 57-51 win.

Esther Little (18), Cameron Taylor-Willis (16) and Emily Baker (11) led the scoring for the Blues.

Coach Dave Girling’s U18 Men travelled to face unbeaten Brentwood Fire, and in a strong and gutsy performance featuring several lead changes, Ipswich took their hosts closer to their first loss of the season than anyone else had - as four quarters of basketball couldn’t separate the two sides, who were tied at 63 apiece at the end of regulation. However, Fire controlled the overtime period, en route to a 74-65 win.

Johnny Hall (23) and Caleb Moses (22) led the Blues in scoring.
