A group of girls from Ipswich won the annual swimming gala for one of the oldest youth clubs in the county.

The Suffolk District Girls’ Brigade annual swimming gala took place at Hadleigh Pool, where girls from the 13th Ipswich Castle Hill company took the honours in the races, before enjoying in a fun swim.

Anne Durnford, deputy commissioner of the Suffolk District Girls’ Brigade, said: “They all seemed to have a good time. We do lots of activities from flower arranging to carols just before Christmas with trained leaders. The swimming gala is just one of the events and it is great for the companies all to socialise with each other at events like this.”
