SCHOOL-aged champions from around the region are busy celebrating their swimming success this week.

More than 150 youngsters put their talent to the test at Crown Pools' annual Primary School gala.

The event, which has been running in Suffolk for more than a decade, brings together dozens of children from all over the Ipswich and Hadleigh districts.

At this year's competition, a total of 19 schools entered – each using four girls and four boys for both individual and relay events.

The overall winning school, claiming the prize for combined male and female top result, was Ipswich Preparatory School on 52 points.

The girls' cup went to Ipswich High School (31 points) and the boys' shield to St Margaret's Primary School (34 points).

A Standard Points award was presented to Hadleigh County Primary for an accumulative number of points achieved for impressive individual times.

Organiser of the event, Christine Mower, said: "It was another very successful year with a great turn-out and a great atmosphere.

"All the schools deserve to be congratulated for their efforts."
