Former Ipswich schoolgirl Hannah Martin, made her first two senior appearances for England, in South Africa, over the weekend.

The 22-year-old Surbiton player, who was a pupil at Ipswich School, played twice over the weekend, helping Danny Kerry’s side to 4-2 and 3-0 wins respectively.

The games marked the first ones of the Tokyo Olympics cycle and provided the first action for many members of the gold medal-winning Great Britain squad from the Rio Games.

England came from 1-0 and 2-1 down in the first game, before comfotably emerging victorious in the second.

Coach Kerry said, “We’ve been exploring a great deal of areas on this trip and despite that we have been solid and penetrative in our play.

“There is still an enormous amount of work to be done before the summer but the team is tight, talented and eager to learn.”

Martin, sister of Great Britain star Harry, was one of 15 new faces selected to lead England and Great Britain into the next Olympic cycle,last month.
