But back on 11th August 2007, the spot kick was only the start of a bad day for the Owls, as Town romped to a fine 4-1 win in their opening Championship match of the season at Portman Road.

The penalty, scored by Alan Lee, was quickly followed up by an 11th minute goal from Tractor Boys midfielder Gary Robets.

Blues fans were delighted that the Suffolk side had managed to pull ahead so early on in the game, but the real sting came from a second goal from Lee in the 25th minute, taking Town into an insurmountable three-goal lead.

The final nail in the coffin came from Pablo Counago, as he netted a fourth in the 60th minute.

Owls striker Leon Clarke scored a late consolation in the 89th minute but Town were already celebrating an impressive start to the season for the home fans to enjoy.
