Crawley Town v Ipswich Town: Bialkowski has good form in penalty shoot-outs
Bartosz Bialkowski has form in penalty shoot-outs should Ipswich Town’s Capital One Cup clash at Crawley go that far tonight.
The Polish goalkeeper saved three penalties for Southampton against Town’s bitter rivals Norwich City, in the Southern section semi-final of the Football League Trophy in December 2009, the Saints eventually going on to win the trophy that season.
He looks set to start tonight and is looking to impress manager Mick McCarthy as he begins life at Portman Road as number two to first-choice stopper Dean Gerken.
“I played against Norwich in the JPT semi-final and saved three penalties and we went to Wembley that season,” he recalled.
“Now I am here I am just trying to focus on every game I play and I am really looking forward to the Crawley game. I want to prove to the gaffer I can play every week.
“As a team I am sure we will do everything we can to go through, while I have some good memories of playing Crawley, especially at their ground last season, so hopefully I can reproduce that form on Tuesday.”
