Newport County AFC manager Terry Butcher has appointed former Ipswich Town team-mate Russell Osman his assistant manager at Rodney Parade.
Osman has been working behind the scenes with Butcher at the Welsh club for more than a month but he is now officially a club employee after contract negotiations were finally completed.
Osman knows the area well having played for and managed Cardiff City in the 1990s as well as brief stints as boss at Bristol City and Bristol Rovers.
Most recently, he has been working with Ipswich’s under-18s, before leaving Portman Road in August 2013.
Meanwhile, Steve Marsella has a dual role as chief scout and goalkeeping coach.
“I’m very pleased to be able to announce that Russell and Steve are part of the team,” said Butcher. “They’ve both been working hard behind the scenes for a while now but they are officially on board now and we’re looking forward to moving forward together. Russell and I obviously go way back – we trust each other implicitly and we make a good partnership.”
He added: “And I’ve worked with Steve for a long time as well.”
“He was with me at Brentford, Inverness and Hibs and we’ve built a lot of teams together.
“He has great contacts, as Russell and I do, and the bulk of the team we took to Inverness has just won the Scottish Cup.
“Between us we make a great team with a lot of knowledge and experience of players at this level.”
