QUEEN'S Park Rangers have acted swiftly to replace former Town manager Jim Magilton, whose controversial departure by "mutual consent" was confirmed late last night.

Paul Hart, who was axed last month as manager of Portsmouth, will take charge at Loftus Road. Former Luton boss Mick Harford, who had a spell in caretaker charge of Rangers in 2007, will his assistant.

Former Ipswich Town star Paul Mariner has appointed John Carver as his assistant at Plymouth Argyle. Mariner was appointed head coach at Home Park last week after Paul Sturrock moved upstairs.

Carver, 44, was formerly a coach under Sir Bobby Robson at Newcastle United.
