Former Ipswich Town loanee Jonny Williams will not be allowed to leave Crystal Palace for a similar temporary spell, until after the Eagles’ home League Cup clash against Newcastle on September 24, according to reports in South London.

The South London Press has also reported that new Palace boss Neil Warnock is a big admirer of the 20-year-old Welsh international and will not consider letting Williams go on a permanent basis.

The diminutive midfielder was a big hit during a loan spell at Ipswich last season as the Blues narrowly missed out on the Championship play-offs and is reportedly a target for a number of clubs in the second tier.

Williams has made one start for Palace this season, in the League Cup win at Walsall, and also featured as a substitute in the Eagles’ 3-1 home defeat to West Ham.

The loan window opened today and Town have already been linked with a move for out-of-favour Sunderland striker Danny Graham, while Palace already have Jack Hunt (Nottingham Forest) and Glenn Murray (Reading) amongst others already on loan at other clubs.

Any early Town business is likely to be conducted later on this week as clubs can only take a loan player for a maximum of 93 days.

Meanwhile, Town’s under-21s won 3-2 at their Leeds United counterparts yesterday, with goals coming from Omar Sowumni, Cemal Ramadan and a Darren McQueen penalty.
