IPSWICH Town manager Jim Magilton played the last 30 minutes as the Blues collected a comfortable win at Blue Square South Braintree Town tonight.

It was mainly a young Town side, and they were two goals ahead inside 18 minutes at Cressing Road on a hard bumpy surface.

Dean Bowditch was adjudged to have been brought down in the penalty area in the eighth minute, and he got to his feet to net from the spot.

Ten minutes later Jordan Rhodes was played in by Billy Clarke, and he coolly slotted home the second goal.

The match was a testimonial for Brad Quinton, who has played over 400 games for the Iron.

Ipswich included two trialists, who both played for an hour. Shane Hill, the son of former Luton player Ricky Hill, played in midfield while Ipswich Wanderers defender Curtis Haynes-Brown partnered Richard Naylor at the heart of the Town defence.

The visitors controlled the game in front of an appreciative crowd, and their next game is a home fixture with West Ham at Portman Road on Monday (kick-off 7.45pm).

Ipswich Town XI: Ward, Robinson, Naylor, Haynes-Brown, Harding; Reason, Hill, Bowditch, Upson; Rhodes, Clarke. Subs used: Watson, Ainsley, Magilton.
