ONLY one player was late turning up for training at Portman Road today, despite the wintry conditions, so boss Roy Keane confirmed at his press conference this afternoon.

“Yes, one player was four hours late, then again if you live in London that is going to be expected,” Keane told journalists.

However ahead of tomorrow's trip to Scunthorpe, Keane was happy with his side's preparations.

“We've got great indoor facilities and are looking forward to the game,” Keane added.

“The game at Scunthorpe won't be easy, but we're ready.”

And although Keane will be missing influential duo Grant Leadbitter and Jon Walters, Keane sees it as an ideal opportunity for others to step up to the plate.

“Their absence gives other players an opportunity to be in the starting line-up,” he said.

And when he was asked who would be captain in Walters' absence, Keane replied.

“I don't get bogged down in the armband thing. I'll sleep on it.”

Full match reaction and more from Keane in Saturday's EADT and Evening Star.
