ROY Keane has confirmed that he will make a late decision as to whether new signing Carlos Edwards starts at Middlesbrough tomorrow.

The Trinidad & Tobago international signed from Sunderland for 1.35m on transfer deadline day but has yet to meet his new team mates.

The 30-year-old right-winger flew to Central America the day before the transfer window shut, played against Honduras last Saturday and then flew on to the Port of Spain to face the USA on Wednesday.

Keane said: “I'll make decision on Carlos tonight. He flew to Miami yesterday, flew on to London this morning and will then catch a lunchtime flight to Newcastle,” before adding straight faced: “He'll probably then walk to the hotel from there.”

He added: “If you ask any player they generally want to play, but we've got a game Tuesday so we'll have to wait and see. I'm sure he's been in a good seat and will hopefully have got some sleep.”

Fellow new signings Grant Leadbitter and Liam Rosenior are almost certain to start tomorrow, while Jaime Peters, who has been out since injuring his ankle on the opening day of the season, trained this week and will be back in the squad.

Connor Wickham has had a groin problem in recent weeks but he too has trained this week.

“I have 21 players available and will have to leave three out,” said Keane.
