NORWICH City manager Paul Lambert says he is going nowhere as speculation continues to link him with a move to Premier League Burnley.

NORWICH City manager Paul Lambert says he is going nowhere as speculation continues to link him with a move to Premier League Burnley.

The odds on Lambert taking over from Owen Coyle at Turf Moor were slashed on Thursday and 24 hours later he was still ahead in the betting.

But the 40-year-old insisted on Friday morning that he was quite happy to turn down the lure of the top flight.

“It appeals to everybody, but all you need to know is I am not going anywhere,” he said. “I am not going anywhere, I'm staying here.

“We have got a club going the right way, albeit it has got financial things going on at the minute, but we have got a crowd on our side that is as vibrant as any.

“The team are going brilliantly and I just feel it is right for me to stay here. I don't want to go anywhere.”

Lambert's words will be music to the ears of Norwich fans, who have seen their team climb into the second automatic promotion place behind Leeds on the back of an 11-game unbeaten run in the league.

They face struggling Exeter City are Carrow Road on Saturday when they will be hoping to make it nine consecutive home wins.

The wintry weather means all but two games - City's and leaders Leeds' home game against Wycombe - have survived, although it is likely that a final decision will have to be made early on Saturday, depending on overnight snow falls
