BLUES boss Jim Magilton hailed his hero keeper Neil Alexander after he inspired Ipswich to victory for the second time in a week.

Alexander saved from Freddie Eastwood after Michael Kightly was tripped when he nicked away a soft back pass from Fabian Wilnis.

Magilton said: “It was very jittery first 15 minutes and I thought Wolves were excellent. They are a side high on confidence and it showed.

“It took another moment of inspiration from the goalkeeper for us to go on and win.

“I'm not sure Neil has saved a penalty before for us and now he has saved two in a week and I'm delighted with him.

“It lifted the crowd and they got behind us brilliantly again.”

Alan Lee, Pablo Counago and Danny Haynes gave Town their tenth successive home win, the best run for 26 years.

Magilton said: “I 'm very proud of the players and deserve all the accolades they get.

“They had to work very hard against a very god side

“To win 3-0 at home against a Wolves side that have loft aspirations is a very good result for us.

“It is probably our best result and performance of the season given the quality of the opposition.”

All three goals were top quality finishes and that delighted the manager.

He said: “It was a terrific finish from Alan after Jon Walters had passed to Owen Garvan and he has palyed the ball in for Alan.

“We got Pablo into the box and their big centre halves could not cope with him. It was a wonderful composed finish from him and then Danny comes on and does what Danny does.

“It was good that all our strikers scored because they missed a few earlier in the season and that knocks the confidence.”

It was also Town's first clean sheet n eight games after beating Crystal Palace 1-0 in August.

Magilton said: “There is a real desire not to give it up and if we do we are not going to go down without fighting.

“The back four are all getting bladdered now in celebration.”
