A PRESS conference at Portman Road this afternoon has just been told that Jim Magilton was sacked over the phone by Marcus Evans as he looked after his ill mother in Belfast.
The assembled members of the media heard that there will be no new manager announced as yet, with Magilton's former assistant Bryan Klug taking charge for Saturday's game in Cardiff.
Magilton, who was Blues boss for almost three seasons, is currently on compassionate leave in Ireland after his mother fell ill.
Marcus Evans informed him of his decision over the phone this morning.
New Town chief executive Simon Clegg had wanted to meet Magilton in person at Portman Road today, but the now-former boss flew home to be with his ailing mother.
