We asked you what you thought of the new Ipswich Town kit – and the responses have been largely positive.

The Blues yesterday unveiled their revamped home kit for both outfield players and ‘keepers for 2017/18, modelled by Luke Chambers, Tommy Smith and Bartosz Bialkowski.

It is the fourth year the kit has been manufactured by adidas and the ninth year of owner Marcus Evans being the main shirt sponsor.

When the kit was unveiled we asked you for your thoughts in an interactive poll.

The majority of the 450+ people who took part were fans of the new outfield design, with only 16% saying they either hated it or just didn’t like it.

It was a similar story with the ‘keeper’s kit, 82% voting in favour of it, while 70% said overall it was comparable or better than the 2016/17 strip.

However it certainly got a negative response when we asked how many fans would buy it – and whether it cost too much (£44.99 for an adults shirt).

More than 80% of respondents said it was too expensive, with just over half saying they wouldn’t buy it.

Commenter ‘mike blunt’ wrote: “As Marcus Evans refuses to fund ITFC properly I will certainly not be supporting him by buying the shirt with his name on, which is a shame because the design is good.”

‘Stat-Matt’ added: “I find the new shirt very bland but to be honest even if I loved it I would never have brought one anyway while it carries that man’s name,” while ‘Dopey Donkey’ said: “V-neck, short sleeves, blue shirt, white shorts now that is a flash back to the kit of the 60s and 70s. What a pity the players who graced those shirts in that era don’t come with the shirts.”

A club spokesman said: “We are delighted to hear that the Ipswich Town supporters like the new 2017/18 home shirt and we feel that the club’s adidas replica shirts offer excellent quality of construction, technical fabric choice and fit.

“This has been echoed by feedback from the professional players and staff at the club.

“The performance aspect of adidas replica shirts in the modern-day professional environment is second to none, with retail shop returns due to product quality issues at an all-time low.

“Whilst always being mindful on retail pricing across the entire merchandise range that the club offer, we do feel that replica shirts offer value for money.

“These items tend to be worn more frequently than many other wardrobe items due to their versatility.

“When looking across the market of football shirt pricing, the club falls within the average price bracket for products of this nature within the UK market, and fall well behind European counterparts.”
