RUMOURS surrounding the identity of the next Ipswich Town manager are rife today following the announcement that a new boss could be in place before Saturday's game at Cardiff.

- Former Tottenham and England legend Glenn Hoddle - who is currently running his own academy for young English players in Spain - has been made the bookies' favourite after whispers that he had been spotted outside the Salthouse Harbour Hotel on Ipswich's docks.

- Alan Curbishley has been made second favourite after rumours circulated that he had been spotted viewing houses in Woodbridge and Hadleigh recently.

- Meanwhile, it is said that a representative from Ipswich Town has been in touch with Sheffield United to carry out background checks on their former manager Neil Warnock.

- Gus Poyet and former Town favourite Mauricio Taricco are two names that have been mentioned as a possible managerial duo after they were spotted together watching a game at Portman Road earlier this season.
