Ipswich Town have had bids rejected for Shrewsbury duo Jon Nolan and Toto Nsiala, with the pair subsequently submitting transfer requests.

Shrewsbury revealed this afternoon that they had turned down offers for the duo, who both also played under Ipswich boss Paul Hurst at Grimsby, from an unnamed club with the bids claimed to have been made by text.

That club, we understand, was Ipswich.

Shrewsbury are understood to value both players at more than £1million each, with the offer for Nsiala believed to have been at the £650,000 mark.

Salop chief executive Brian Caldwell has previously stated the pair would only be sold for ‘silly money’.

A Shrewsbury club statement read: “Shrewsbury Town yesterday received an offer for both Jon Nolan and Toto Nsiala from a Championship club.

“Town do not need to sell Jon and Toto and have made it clear that we do not want to sell the players.

“The Championship club made an offer for both players via text yesterday but this was below Town’s valuation for the players.

“Today both Jon and Toto have handed in transfer requests to the club.

“We will of course keep our fans updated with any further developments should they occur.”

Nsiala is a 26-year-old, right-footed, defender who made 58 starts last season as the Shrews made both the League One Play-Off Final and Checkatrade Trophy Final.

Nolan, 26, operated in the hole behind a lone striker during Hurst’s Shrewsbury side’s stellar season, scoring 10 goals in all competitions.

We exclusively revealed yesterday that Blackpool defender Curtis Tilt has also handed in a transfer request as he looks to force through a move to Portman Road.

But there has been little progress since, with Blackpool standing firm in their valuation of the player despite negotiations between the two clubs at one stage pointing towards a compromise agreement. It’s understood owner Marcus Evans is losing patience regarding a continual moving of the goalposts in regard to a fee.

The Blues were originally quoted £1million for Tilt, who has a year remaining on his contract, with the Blues having two bids rejected up to the value of £600,000.

It is possible Ipswich are interested in signing both Tilt and Nsiala with Janoi Donacien, who joined from Accrington Stanley yesterday, able to play in either full-back position as well as in the centre of defence.
