IPSWICH Town are close to finalising two high profile pre-season fixtures, including the visit of a Premier League club to Portman Road.

It is traditional for the Blues to entertain a top foreign side in the week before the start of the season, and they could have two matches at home this summer.

Town are arranging a number of away games in their build-up to the 2008/09 campaign including a number against local non-league clubs - and possible a top class continental side.

Players will report back for training later than last year - towards the end of next month - although there will be a week earlier in June when they can start build-up work at Playford Road.

Manager Jim Magilton has spent time with his family in Belfast, and talks with players who are out of contract on June 30, including Dean Bowditch and Sito Castro, are about to take place.
