The bad weather, which has hit many parts of the country, has resulted in officials declaring that the game can not go ahead.
An early morning pitch inspection was carried out with the decision announced at 9.15.
But some Town fans had already left and messages were being sent out to them to return to Suffolk to save them the long round trip of 340 miles.
