IPSWICH Town supporters yearning to see some open attacking football from a team in blue could do worse than to give the club's Under-18's a look.

They produced another fine display at the weekend beating West Ham 2-1 in front of a large crowd at Playford Road.

Luke Hyam was back after illness with Sam Brandon returning to the bench. Among the substitutes was local lad Remi Garrett, who was making his debut.

Town started slowly and Barrett struck both posts in an amazing let off. Ian Mcloughlin was on hand to tip a thunderbolt from Abdulla on to the crossbar, and it was against the run of play when Ipswich opened the scoring after 20 minutes.

A flowing move ended when Caolan Lavery crossed and Ronan Murray finished with a low shot just inside the left-hand post.

The half ended with Tom Eastman rising above everyone to head narrowly over from a Town corner.

After the interval it was all Ipswich and it no surprise when Lavery laid on a second goal with a cross which a delighted Josh Carson fired home.

Garrett came on to show clever touches and minutes from the final whistle the Londoner's Colombian striker Christian Montano earned them a consolation goal with a firm header.

Sir Bobby Robson always promoted young players in his time at Portman Road and he would have enjoyed this performance from Town's young guns on his special day.

Ipswich play at Portsmouth this Saturday.

Town's U16's were beaten 3-2 by West Ham.

Ipswich Under-18's: McLoughlin, Meekings, Dunbar, Hyam, McKeown, Eastman, Griffiths, Cawley, Lavery, Murray, Carson. Substitutes: Clark, Brandon, Bennett, Jones, Garrett.
