IPSWICH Town keeper Richard Wright has one thing in common with the trio of new arrivals at Portman Road - they all have bags of Premier League experience.

The 31-year-old trained with new signings Grant Leadbitter and Liam Rosenior over the last two days, while fellow new boy Carlos Edwards will join up with the squad later next week.

Wright, who made 108 appearances in the Premier League with Town, Arsenal and Everton, said: “The higher the level you go you do gain more experience of certain things and it does make a difference. Those that have come in have got that and that can only help Ipswich Town.”

Rosenior has made 96 appearances in the Premier League for Fulham and Reading, Leadbitter has played 67 times in the top-flight, while Edwards has featured 35 times at the highest level of English league football.

That means that 198 games worth of Premier League experience has been added to a squad that already could count a total of 500 appearances in the top-flight.

Wright said: “It's good that we've brought three players in because it provides competition. They are three players with Premier League experience and that is vital for anyone who wants to succeed in this league.”

The Ipswich players not in international action will be enjoy a rare break over the weekend with there being no league fixture and Wright will not be letting the side's current run of bad form sour his time off.

He said: “I have a high standard I set myself. I want to do well every game and it was certainly not a case of me coming back here just to settle back at home for an easy life.

“But I don't dwell on things as much as I used to. I do analyse things after a game but you can go too deep. You can analyse things and think about things too much. For me I just want to go out and play.

“It's difficult at the moment with the way results are going but we have to try and be positive.

“Ideally we'd like to be playing again this weekend to put things right, but on the other hand we've got two weeks on the training pitch now to get things the way they should be ahead of some big games.”
