There is no meeting at Foxhall Stadium tonight for the Witches, and fans of the Suffolk club will be watching closely over the next 72 hours as Plymouth look to grab the final play-off place in the Premier League off their Suffolk rivals.

The Devils are at home to Scunthorpe tonight, before the return leg in Lincolnshire tomorrow. They then travel to Rye House on Saturday night in their final league clash, knowing seven points from those three meetings will be enough to oust the Witches.

Certainly beating Scunthorpe at home should not be a problem for Plymouth and that would leave them needing four points from the other two meetings.

While Scunthorpe are still a reasonable force at home, Rye House have been decimated by injuries of late and this week were hit with the news Dan Greenwood has retired from the sport – it means they can only use a National League guest in his absence.

So, the balance tips in Plymouth’s favour and if so, and the Witches don’t reach the play-offs, there is likely to be just one meeting left this season – the 16-Lap Classic – and a very premature end to proceedings at Foxhall.

But until the Fat Lady sings hope springs eternal for Chris Louis and the Witches.

However, one suspects team building for 2016 is already well underway in the Louis household – and it will be interesting to see how many of the 2015 team are under consideration.

Leaders Poole have elected to face Coventry in the Elite League play-off semi-finals.

Belle Vue, led by Scott Nicholls, face Swindon. The first legs, at Brandon, Coventry and Kirkmanshulme Lane, Belle Vue are on Monday, with the returns on September 21.
