Ipswich Town FC manager Jim Magilton cut the ribbon to officially open the Sir Alf Ramsey Suite and new bar at Rushmere Golf Club.
Sir Alf was a Rushmere member for more than 25 years and enjoyed regular matches with close friends Les Barnes and Russell Morphew.
Lady Victoria Ramsey, who often had Sunday lunch with Sir Alf at the club, gave permission for the suite to be named after her late husband. She also let the club have a rare picture of Sir Alf holding the World Cup.
Patrick McKenzie accepted a signed Ipswich Town shirt from Jim Magilton. Funds collected from the draw were given to club captain Tony Ramsey (no relation to Sir Alf) to help his chosen Heartbeat East Suffolk charity.
Pictures of the opening and a round-up of the local golf scene are in Garnett on Golf in tonight's Evening Star.
