SPORTS fans were celebrating in pubs, clubs and living-rooms across Suffolk today as Jonny Wilkinson's last-minute drop-goal gave England a dramatic extra-time win in the rugby World Cup final.

England and Australia were tied at 17-17 with just seconds of the extra period to go when Newcastle fly-half Wilkinson kicked the winning points in Sydney.

England led 14-5 at half-time after Jason Robinson scored their only try of the final, replying to an early score by Lote Tuqiri. Neither try was converted.

But Elton Flatley took the match into extra-time with a last-minute penalty.

Flatley seemed to have denied England again with another late penalty after Wilkinson stroked one over two minutes into the added period.

Overall, Flatley matched Wilkinson's four penalties. But super Jonny had the last vital kick and the last laugh.
