COLCHESTER United will have to make do without the services of Kem Izzet for three matches, following his red card at Southampton last week.

But U's boss Aidy Boothroyd has not been over-critical of his tenacious midfielder. Izzet was sent off for violent conduct during the goalless draw at St Mary's.

“I had a chat with Kem this week. He's going to miss three games, which is unfortunate for him, me and the club,” admitted Boothroyd.

“With a new manager coming in, I think Kem wanted to show that he's with me, and that he wants to fight and scrap for me, which is why I put him in there.

“The challenge was just over-enthusiasm on his part.”

Izzet's three-match suspension kicks in this weekend, with the trip to Swindon.
