LAST Saturday's Jewson League Division One match between Hadleigh United and March Town was a landmark for Hadleigh's central defender James Rush as he celebrated 250 first team appearances for the Millfield club.

Rush was presented with a suitably inscribed tankard before the start of the see-saw game that almost saw his big day tarnished as lowly March were allowed to draw level after Hadleigh had been 3-0 in front early in the second half.

It took a last minute goal from Peter Grant to ensure a winning occasion for 25-year-old Rush, who made his Jewson League debut against Harwich in August 1995 in the days when Scott Clarke was Hadleigh manager.

Rush first played for Hadleigh in their under-nine side and progressed through the ranks playing more than 500 matches at all levels. He has scored ten first team goals, and Hadleigh supporters hope there will be plenty more to come from this most loyal of servants.
