LEEDS United made an exit from the Coca-Cola Championship in ugly fashion when their fans made a pitch invasion with a couple of minutes left at Elland Road this afternoon.

Alan Lee had equalised for Ipswich Town in the 88th minute after Richard Cresswell had opened the scoring for lowly Leeds United in 12th minute.

With Leeds needing a 9-0 win at Derby in their final game next Sunday to stand a chance of staying up the scenes turned nasty and it took some while for the pitch to clear - and for the game to be completed.

Ipswich had never had so many people cheering them on, with the majority of football followers appearing to have a dislike for Leeds following their chequered history - and quite happy to see them relegated to League One.

And on this evidence there will be serious repercussions for Leeds club for their fans' behaviour on this dreadful day for the club.

Ipswich were well worth their point and could easily have taken all three points in the final dramatic stages.
