Leeds went ahead in the 12th minute when Shane Supple parried a fierce drive by David Healy and Richard Cresswell dived to head home.
Alan Lee scored a late equaliser for Ipswich and the game was held up for several minutes when Leeds fans came on to the pitch, but when it resumed Town held on for a draw.
