The Woodpeckers build-up continues with a further five friendlies for the first team, including home games against Stonham Aspal on Tuesday, July 31, Portsmouth Royal Navy on Sunday, August 5 and East Bergholt on Tuesday, August 7.

In addition they travel to Tilbury on Saturday, August 11 and Wivenhoe on Tuesday, August 14 before opening their Jewson League campaign at home to Bury Town on Saturday, August 18.

n NEEDHAM Market have appointed Colin Sinclair as assistant to manager Colin Macrow.

This follows the departure of John Coupe who left the Jewson League club to join the coaching team at the Ipswich Wanderers School of Excellence.

Sinclair teaches P E at Stowmarket High School and has played Jewson football at Newmarket, Sudbury, Soham and Halstead. In his youth he played at Cambridge United and Leyton Orient.
