IPSWICH Evening Star Witchesriders Danny Bird and Scott Nicholls have been included in the Team GB squad for the forthcoming World Cup which will be staged at Eastbourne and Poole next month.

But while there is joy for Bird, another Witch, Chris Louis has been left out of the 12-man squad - a

curious decision considering his 2004 form.

“Quite honestly the fact I've been left out doesn't upset me,” said Louis.

“I would willingly represent my country and have always worn the GB race jacket with pride, but if I'm not chosen, I'm not. I don't intend to make a big song and dance about it.

“I hope the rest of the lads do the business for the team.”

Bird, however, has been named in the Team GB squad for the first time. And he is clearly delighted.

He said: “It's brilliant news and well, what can I say? I've been riding well and had hoped I might get offered at least a chance and so to be picked is great news.”

Witches captain Scott Nicholls will also captain Team GB for the event which starts at Eastbourne on August 2.
