Sean Murray is expected to be out of action for up to six weeks, after undergoing an operation on an injured knee.

Speaking after yesterday’s 3-1 home win over Crewe, which saw Colchester United rise to 13th in the table, boss John McGreal revealed the full extent of midfielder Murray’s injury.

“Sean has had an operation on his knee,” confirmed McGreal.

“He did his knee last week at Coventry (0-0 draw).

“He had been nursing a little bit of a knee injury as such, but last week he had a bit of a twist on it.

“Sean thought it would settle down, but it hasn’t, so he’s going to be out for four to six weeks, which is really unfortunate for him.”
