Training is due to get underway for Suffolk rugbys representative side in the upcoming weeks with a new coach at the helm in the shape of the Ipswich YM's Noel Holloway.

As energetic and enthusiastic as ever, Holloway is looking to instill a fresh pride in the Navy shirt and has already sent out an outline programme of training and fixtures to the eighteen Suffolk sides.

Those sides have been asked to put forward names of players suitable and the new man in charge has been quick to stress that he is aware of a number of quality players in the lower leagues as well as the more obvious sources of talent available.

Expecting to assemble a squad of some thirty or so players, whilst also considering the demands of regular training at their club sides, the mixed squad will all get a game at some point in the campaign.

Looking to play an attractive and open game, the initial introductions and skills assessment will be on the 6th of February at the Ipswich YM's Rushmere ground in Ipswich.

The following week's session will be aided by ex Leicester and England player Steve Redfern although the location of that, and the following session, has yet to be confirmed.

One definite confirmation though is the re-appointment of Ipswich's Alex Briggenshaw as county captain. His inspiration from the front will no doubt be a key factor in the county's ambitions again this year.

Simon Lord of Bury St. Edmunds is the team secretary and Sue Kimber of Woodbridge is the physio who makes up the group all given the opportunity to bring success to Suffolk rugby this year.

19th March      v  Norfolk               at  North Walsham   k.o 7.30
