Jeremy Noseda will be hoping his colt Outback Traveller can complete a hat-trick at the course this afternoon on a seven-race card that promises much for the local trainer.

The card this afternoon is the start of a three-day meeting on the July course that also sees racing tomorrow (Friday) evening and on Saturday afternoon.

Noseda, based at the Shalfleet Stables, not only has an outstanding chance with Outback Traveller in the feature, but also holds other top chances of success in a season which has seen him claim five winners on turf and 13 on the all-weather from little more than 100 runners.

Outback Traveller goes against five rivals in the 4.25pm handicap over seven furlongs, over which the colt won on August 2 and on June 21. Ryan Moore rides.

Main rivals will be the Ed Walker trained and George Baker ridden Glorious Empire, a winner at the course in July and a gelding who has since finished fourth at Ascot.

Captain Bob also holds chances for William Buick and trainer Charlie Hills, the gelding having already won twice this season at Warwick in April and at Sandown in June.

Noseda is double handed in the opener at 2.10pm in which seven debutants go in the 12-strong field for the Devils Dyke maiden for two-year-olds over six furlongs.

Moore rides his Lunar Moon and Buick partners Courier while also well fancied is Gleaming Girl, Kieren Fallon riding for David Simcock.

Of those with experience, Jamie Spencer rides Michael Bell’s Stone Roses, eighth at Great Yarmouth on debut in June.

Noseda and Moore have another top chance in the 2.40pm 10-furlong handicap with Ian’s Memory, a colt eighth of 12 at Kempton on his seasonal re-appearance.

Excellent Puck, a Newmarket winner in July for Fallon and Shaun Lycett and Raven Ridge, Spencer for Bell on a gelding fourth at Newbury in May after a Newcastle win as a two-year-old, are the main threats.

In the 3.15pm handicap leading rivals include Spiritual Star, William Carson riding for his father Anthony and Regal Dan, Cam Hardie claiming five off Hills’ colt last seen in March.

John Gosden seeks more winners in his bid to land the trainers’ title in the 3.50pm maiden, Buick partners his Long Cross, fourth at Newbury and now stepping down in grade.

Lake Alfred, Martin Harley for Lady Cecil and Freemason, Moore for Sir Michael Stoute rate the dangers having both been placed on debut.

Buick rides hat-trick seeking Bombardment for Charlie Appleby and Godolphin in the 4.55pm handicap, the grey colt having already won at Kempton and Nottingham.

Zain Empire, Spencer for Robert Cowell was third at Sandown after a Carlisle success and rates a danger as does the Peter Charalambous trained Kalon Brama under Jimmy Quinn, the filly having been second at the course after an earlier Leicester win.

Secret Missile and Random Success renew rivalry in the finale five furlongs. The two met at Newbury when Random Success, Baker for Roger Charlton, got the better of Secret Missile, Dougie Costello for William Muir. This time around the then runner-up has a six pounds pull at the weights.
