WITH players having to content with a cross wind this local derby was a low key affair two first half goals ensuring Old Newton's climb up the table continues.

The home side's wind-assisted attack put Stonham under pressure for most of the first half, going ahead in the 12th minute when a cross from Clarke was forced in by Richards.

Newton increased their lead in the 28th minute - Richards netting again after collecting a long ball out of defence with a lone defender and the keeper static.

Little was seen of the visiting attack although defender Rodwell had an effort deflect off a defender.

Stonham enjoyed their best spell after the break with the speed of Moye causing the home defence problems. The striker being denied by a timely tackle from Shave.
